Drug Poisoning – poison to remove poison

Once a very famous physician made a comment that any drug can act as poison while taking indiscriminately and at the same time any poison can give the beneficial effect of drug if taken in therapeutic guide line. The veracity of this fact is found through out medical history.

You can understand that some time drug taken innocently can start exhibiting poisonous effects or severe adverse effects. In such case, from olden time there is a practice of initiating some another antidote poison in the name of the drug and surprisingly the counter effect is found to be positive.

The ancient alchemists and the shamans knew the process of preparation and tried the potion into many cases effectively. In one literature it was mentioned that the main physician of Emperor Nero used to amalgamate seventy two different kinds of poisonous substances and out of which the meat of a regional poisonous snake was very essential. This potion was the main curative measure for the use of poison antidote. To them seventy – two used to represent a charming number and they thought it was the panacea of poison. The practice continued for many years. There was another case that got much priority in medical faculty. In ancient time, there was a very unkind king in Asia Minor. The king was ambitious and did not pay any heed to human lives in procuring his coveted ambition. This tendency had made him very cruel. He systematically made his all the soldiers to take poison in small quantity every day including himself. This practice made the total team refractory against external poison. The intention was simple, incase some enemy would have tried to kill them by inducing poison; they could guard them with their immunity against that effort and would foil the attack of the enemy. The poisonous substance made his complete physiology poisonous gradually. He killed his own wife out of suspicion.  His own son started showing rebel against the king. It had gone to such extent that the son ordered his father to kill his own self. The father king was very much upset and stabbed himself. It was an abortive effort and lastly, the faithful servant of that king killed him after seeing the torturous and unbearable condition of his master. There are other rampant examples of oriental poisonous girls in the custody of various kingdoms and seraglios. The girls were systematically provided with venom of viper. That dangerous position used to course through their blood. When some stranger was suspected by the king, the particular person was provided with those poisonous girls. It was the royal treat to let the person enjoy that celestial beauty through out night and some time mere an intimate kiss from that girl was sufficient to put the person to death. In modern medicine, botulinum toxin (a very lethal toxin for human) is therapeutically used against many cancer cells selectively with outstanding results. Some viruses are also selectively used to treat some complex lesion caused by malignant tumors.  The possibilities are numerous and sagacity in permutation and combination is the key word in fighting poison with poison as an antidote.
